What Is a DNS Transfer?
DNS stands for Domain Name System. It is the setting that points your domain to the right server, so your email and web addresses land where they are supposed to.
Some stores bring their own domain instead of using one DriveCentric buys and manages for them. If that is your store, DriveCentric needs to update your domain's DNS so your emails and CRM tools work correctly.
What You Need to Provide
DriveCentric handles the technical setup, but a few things are needed from you first:
Confirm you want to use your own domain instead of one DriveCentric provides.
Share the domain you want to use.
Provide a technical contact at your store, name and email, who can share your DNS details when asked.
What Happens After You Provide This Information
Once DriveCentric has your domain and your technical contact information, the rest happens on the DriveCentric side.
They work directly with your technical contact to get the DNS details they need and complete the transfer.
Good to Know
Bringing your own domain is optional. DriveCentric can buy and manage a domain for your store instead.
Your technical contact needs to be someone who can share your DNS details when DriveCentric asks for them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to use my own domain?
No. DriveCentric can buy and manage a domain for your store. A DNS transfer only applies when you want to use a domain you already own.
Do I need to make the DNS changes myself?
No. DriveCentric handles the technical setup. Your part is confirming the domain and giving DriveCentric a technical contact who can share your DNS details.
