How to Use DrivePay
Step 1: Open the Customer Card
Navigate to any Customer Card
An open deal is not required
Step 2: Click “DrivePay”
Select DrivePay from the Actions menu
Step 3: Choose How to Send the Link
You can send the payment request by:
Email
Text
Both
By default, DriveCentric selects the most recently used email and phone number.
Delivery options may be disabled if:
No valid email or phone number exists
The phone number is not opted into texting
Step 4: Review the Message
You can edit the message before sending.
Default email subject: {Store Name} is requesting payment from you
Default message body (email & text): {Store Name} has requested you submit your payment securely
Step 5: Enter Payment Details
Payment Description
Required
Up to 200 characters
Example: Vehicle deposit
Special characters are not allowed in the description field
Payment Amount
Required
Maximum: $100,000
The amount is locked into the payment link once sent
Step 6: Send the Payment Link
Click Send Link
The modal closes automatically
The customer receives a secure DealerPay payment link
The request is logged on the Activity Timeline
If you have permission, you may choose to Send As another user.
Payment Status & Notifications
DealerPay returns one of four statuses:
Payment Successful
Timeline shows payment amount, card brand, and last four digits
Payment Failed
Payment Expired
Payment Deleted
For non-successful payments, the Timeline shows the payment amount.
Who Gets Notified?
Users associated with the deal
If impersonation was used, the impersonated user receives notifications
Assigned salespeople receive successful payment notifications, even if they don’t have DrivePay permission
You can manage if and where you receive the notification in My Settings → Notifications
What the Customer Sees
The customer receives a text or email with a secure payment link
Clicking Complete Payment takes them to the DealerPay payment portal
All payment details are entered securely on DealerPay’s site
DriveCentric does not store payment information.
Send Payment Link on Mobile
Open the Customer Card in the mobile app
Tap the green + button in the bottom right corner
Select Send Payment Link
Choose to send via Email and/or Text (based on delivery availability)
Review and edit the message if needed
Enter payment details
Tap Send Link
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an open deal to send a payment?
No. DrivePay is available regardless of deal status.
Can I edit a payment after sending the link?
No. You’ll need to send a new payment request.
Is payment information stored in DriveCentric?
No. All payment data is securely handled by DealerPay.
How long does the payment link stay active?
Link expiration is controlled by DealerPay and shown in their portal.
