Manual DMS: Getting Your Historical Data Into DriveCentric

Step 7: What to do when your DMS does not connect to DriveCentric automatically and your historical deal data has to come over as a file.

Written by DriveCentric Support

What Is a Manual DMS Setup?

A DMS, short for Dealer Management System, is the software your store already uses to track deals, inventory, and accounting. Some DMS platforms do not have an automatic connection to DriveCentric. If that is the case for your store, your historical deal data can still come across, and it takes one extra step from you.

Your part is getting a file from your DMS provider and dropping it into a secure link. Your Implementation Specialist handles the import itself.

Getting Your Historical Data Over

Here is what the process looks like on your end:

  1. Request a historical data export from your DMS provider.

  2. Drop that file into the secure link DriveCentric provides.

If you would rather not bring your historical data over at all, let your Implementation Specialist know and that step gets skipped.

What Happens After You Send the File

Your Implementation Specialist reviews the files and creates a custom script to import your historical data into DriveCentric.

There is nothing else you need to do once the file is uploaded.

Good to Know

  • Your DMS provider produces the export, so the timing on getting the file depends on them.

  • Historical data is optional, so tell your Implementation Specialist if you would rather start fresh in DriveCentric.
